Call For Female Artists: Days of Dorcas Online Art Competition

Nigeria’s largest online art gallery, Art635 is searching for the most exciting, undiscovered artwork of 2018 for its Days of Dorcas Online Photography Competition. The competition is open to African female artists and photographers, between the ages of 18 - 35 years.

Are you a female artist or photographer with a passion to enhance your career? Then, the Days of Dorcas Online Photography Competition could be perfectly suited for you!

Nigeria’s largest online art gallery, Art635 is searching for the most exciting, undiscovered artwork of 2018 for its Days of Dorcas Online Photography Competition. The contest is open to African female artists and photographers, between the ages of 18 – 35 years, who if shortlisted, must be able to attend the workshop in Lagos, Nigeria from Monday, 28th May, 2018 to Saturday, 2nd June, 2018.

The winner and the 1st runner-up will be rewarded with photography equipment worth the equivalent of N500,000 and N250,000, respectively, while the top 25 participants will receive a 6-day workshop.

Participation in the Days of Dorcas Online Art Competition is totally FREE and the workshop will be facilitated by the following professionals in the arts and photography industry;

● TY Bello, celebrity photographer and philanthropist
● Bénédicte Kurzen, French photographer
● Jumoke Sanwo, Video Art and Virtual Reality artist
● Yetunde Ayeni-Babaeko, Founder of Camara-Studios
● Uche Okpa-Iroha, Founding member of Blackbox photography

How To Enter Contest:

Send in your entries on the theme “The strength of the African Woman” via the website; www.art635gallery/daysofdorcas. 

Requirements:

  • Get an accepted Art635 Artist onboarding Application to become a part of the Art635 Gallery.
  • Upload 3 photographs of 72 dpi with dimension not larger than 1200 X 1800 pixels.
  • Overall title of work and captions for each photograph.
  • Label each work with the artist’s name, date, title, caption and Days Of Dorcas .(e.g.obu_peter_2_8_2017_myface_kitten_facenumber1_DaysofDorcas ).
  • Year of production
  • A Motivational statement of not more than 300 words of why you want to attend the workshop.
  • Photographers must have full rights to the photos submitted.

All submissions must be received on or before 22nd April, 2018.

Entries will be assessed by a panel of judges.

Selected artists will receive confirmation emails by the end of April 2018.
