Ituen Basi will be showcasing her designs at the GTBank Fashion Weekend on November 11 and 12, 2017.
The GTBank Fashion Weekend Runway Shows celebrate the convergence of global fashion designs, by featuring prominent designers from across Africa and will be holding at Plot 1 Water Corporation Drive, off Ligali Ayorinde, Oniru, Victoria Island.
One of Africa’s finest designers, Ituen Basi, will be there to showcase her new and exciting designs inspired by old couturiers. Ituen’s designs are best known for its individualistic expressions, creative combination of timeless elegance and bias for the finest quality materials.
In 2009, she released a collection that brought back the proliferation of the Oleku trend; short sleeved Iro and Buba of the 1970s; this led to the new wave of the Ankara interpretation in Nigeria and beyond.
In 2012, Ituen’s creativity earned her the title ‘designer of the year’ at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in South Africa. Ituen’s unique use of Ankara has attracted wide appraisal for producing exceptional but wearable art, and has made her the go-to designer for celebrities and fashionistas in search of something beautifully African.
Her colorful Ankara creations have celebrated the joy of prints and through her years in the fashion industry she has continued to create unique pieces which she will be showing off to the expectant spectators and fashion enthusiasts at the GTBank Fashion Weekend.
