Who says you can’t change the world at a young age? Meet four people under 30 who are changing the world one day at a time.
John Boyega, Actor
In his Forbes ’30 under 30′ interview, John Boyega has shown that he is not stopping anytime soon. “When I found out that 0.1% of actors are working, I was like, “You know what? I’m going to go for it anyway.’ You only live once.” After playing Ugwu in the 2013 book-inspired movie Half Of A Yellow Sun, he has gone on to play Finn in the 2015 blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the third highest-grossing film of all time.
Kelechi Anyadiegwu, Founder, Zuvaa
This Carnegie Mellon graduate got frustrated when she could not find a website that sold African-inspired clothing and accessories, so she created a one-stop shop for all things Africa. Zuvaa (meaning “sunshine” in the Zimbabwean language Shona) is “a premier online destination to find unique and one of kind African-inspired pieces.” Anyadiegwu is on this year’s Forbes ’30 under 30′.
Anjelica Nwandu, Founder, The Shade Room
Dubbed “The TMZ of the Internet”, The Shade Room was the first blog to launch on Instagram. Nwandu (who is also on Forbes ’30 under 30′) created this blog because all she wanted to do was to give her honest opinion about celebrity news, but has now become the go-to page for over 3.3 million people.
Zim Ugochukwu, Founder, Travel Noire
Zim is everywhere. And we mean it – she travels everywhere. Travel Noire started because she couldn’t find other black travelers on Instagram. Now, the website is made by “the most amazing individuals from the African diaspora, who reside all over the globe”. Packed with pictures and traveling tips, their “love of culture and exploration” is evident. Zim is only beginning – her and her staff have started the Travel Noire Experiences: 6 days and 7 nights in some of the most beautiful cities in the world.
