GTBank Provides Community Football Pitch in Obele School Complex

One of the beneficiaries of the GTBank CSR initiative is Obele Community School complex, which was provided with a complete football pitch to help build the skills of budding football talents in the community.

(GTBank) shares in the vision of shaping the career of young people to attain their goals through well-tailored youth development initiatives like adoption and renovation of schools across the country, the GTBank State Principal Cup, and more.

One of the beneficiaries of the GTBank CSR initiatives is Obele Community School complex, which comprises of two groups of co-educational and single-sex secondary schools; Obele Community Junior and Senior High School, and Ideal Girls Junior and Senior High School. The complex was provided with a standard football pitch as GTBank’s contribution in building the skills of budding football talents in the community.

The pitch was commissioned on Wednesday, 27th September, 2017, and this is coming barely a week after GTBank hosted the Ogun State Principal Cup.

The Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility programmes are geared towards developing young talents through sports education projects. For instance, the Lagos State Principals Cup football competition is played each year by over 350 public schools across Lagos, including the group of schools in Obele community.

In addition to the sponsorship of the football tournaments and as part of the Bank’s commitment to grassroots football development, the Bank provides sports facilities within school communities to ensure that students of participating schools have access to the appropriate sporting facilities all year round.

The development of a standard football field in Obele Community, which is centrally located, will meet the demands of neighboring communities in Lagos State Education District IV, as well as enhance the standard of extracurricular activities and the competition in schools within the area.
