Something you all need to know is that soda like Fanta or 7-up or sprite among others will rot your teeth. No joke, most carbonated soft drinks contain Phosphoric Acid which is used to give a sharp, tangy or tart flavour. That stuff will erode the enamel protecting your teeth and before you know it, you’ll probably need to get a set of dentures. Okay maybe it’s not that drastic but admit it, you barely even floss so why make things worse for yourself.
The recommended daily water intake is roughly 2.5 – 3 litres for the average adult which may seem daunting and bland at first but there are ways to spice up those glasses of water. The best way to make drinking water not as tedious is to flavour it (naturally of course) with fruits and herbs. It isn’t really difficult and is a healthier, tastier and cheaper alternative to soft drinks.
Any fruits/herbs can be used for this purpose but here are a couple of great ones:
- Orange (of course)
- Lime/Lemon
- Mint
- Pineapple
- Apple
- Strawberry
- Cucumber
- Mango
- Vanilla
- Tangerine
To flavour water, all you need is a couple pieces of your preferred fruit or herb at the bottom of a glass or preferably a jar/pitcher, you can crush the fruit a little bit to release some of the flavour, scoop some ice on top and add some water. You can drink immediately or leave for a couple hours to let it steep and release flavour.
Don’t be afraid to mix up the flavours, Mint and lime give an awesome mojito – like flavour, cucumber and lime can also be very refreshing. So feel free to try this out and you’ll probably be drinking more water than you ever have, your skin will thank you.
