Bearing in mind that you will meet a lot of people at the event, both old and new friends, family and maybe a prospective partner, some outfits will not do justice to your appearance and the image you would love to portray in a wedding gathering. If you’ve got nothing to wear, it’s better you borrow from your mother’s wardrobe, than wear any of these outfit to a wedding.

Jeans

The only people that can wear jeans to a wedding, without being questioned, are the vendors. As a wedding guest, a pair of jeans trousers or denim shirts will only make you look casual and unserious. Show some respect to the couple – wear your best formal or traditional wear, depending on which of the ceremonies you are attending.

White Dress

You don’t wanna get the bride upset do you? It’s her day and she alone deserves to look like a bride. Please allow her enjoy the shine, without sharing in it with your white dress. Worse so, a flowing white dress is a bigger NO NO to wear to a wedding.

Revealing clothes

Except the wedding is holding at a strip club, there’s no reason you should go to a wedding dressed in revealing clothes.

Flip Flops

We know you already know that you can’t be caught wearing flip flops to a wedding. Maybe at the later part of the reception, you can wear a fancy slippers to free your feet from heels, but flip flops during the event? Nehi!

Shorts

You need guts though to wear shorts to a wedding, and I bet you’d rather save those guts for something more worth the while. Your wardrobe can’t be that empty, try and look for something longer to wear.

Sneakers

Sneakers are best for casual events, and weddings are not one.

Black dress

It’s a wedding not a funeral, so picking a black dress brings a dark air to the event. For guys, it’s okay to wear black suits, but of course complemented with lighter colors. You can wear other dark shades like brown, grey, navy blue, but try and stay away from all black.

Face Cap

We know you won’t wear a face cap to a wedding. This is to remind you just in case you forget.

Very sophisticated clothes

Nigerian wedding guests are fond of dressing more than the bride. Well, it’s not so nice when you outshine the bride and get all the attention with your over-sophisticated sequined dress. Remember, it’s her wedding, and her glory should not be shared with anyone.
