Highlights of BookNGuage With Lola Shoneyin and Ayo Bamidebayo

It was an interesting three hours of book reading, spoken words, and music performances at this month's BookNGuage session.

Over a hundred Book lovers gathered at Herbert Macaulay Library, Yaba, for the monthly BookNGuage session. It was an interesting and enlightening three hours of book reading, spoken words, music performances and question & answer session.

The event featured two amazing authors; Lola Shoneyin and Ayo Bamidebayo, who read their books to the guests. Lovers of the book “Stay With Me” were thrilled to hear the story first hand from the author, Ayo Bamiadebayo, as she talked about her debut novel.

Drawing from her book, “The Secret Life of Baba Segi’s Wives,” Lola threw light on sex and polygamy in a typical African family setting, an interesting book that evolves nostalgia if you grew up in a polygamous home.

The BookNGuage is a You Read Initiative by GTBank, which is held monthly at the aforementioned venue, and is a platform for book lovers to meet, learn and network.

Other highlights from the event include, music performance by Nana Aisha, spoken words by Vivian La Revolucion as well as an on-the-spot sketch by an artist who was inspired by the two focus-books of the event.
